Unlocking the next generation of  circular cement feedstock

Every year, the steel industry generates enormous volumes of by-products. Cement producers have long relied on Granulated Blast Furnace slag (GBFS) to substitute parts of the emission-heavy clinker in cement.

But as the steel industry decarbonizes and transitions to hydrogen reduction processes and electric furnaces, the supply of GBFS is declining. The by-products from these newer processes generate a different story: high in heavy metals, currently classified as waste, and largely destined for landfill.

Cemvision saw an opportunity where others saw a dead end. Through our valorization process, we stabilize and activate low-grade slags generated by Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) and Basic Oxygen Furnaces (BOF), turning an industrial waste stream into a high-performance cement input. The result is next-generation cement that meets your performance requirements — with a fraction of the carbon footprint.

Slag valorization: Output

Cement made with Cemvision's valorized EAF and BOF slags delivers strong strength development. Third-party testing confirms Slag Activity Index results of 112% for EAF slag and 105% for BOF slag — both surpassing the standard threshold and outperforming average GGBFS, confirming their suitability as a direct replacement.
